Abundant Life School of Ministry offers a program of concentrated study designed to spiritually equip believers for active service in the local church. It is, in effect, a leadership training program which integrates classroom instruction with "hands-on" experience.
We offer a two-year program of study integrating five cores of acedemic study. Each course will meet for one hour per week for six weeks
An additional core, the Work-Service Core, is an applied skills program of study. It requires two hours of mentored, on-the-job training each week in one of the ministry arms of the local church.
Over the two-year program, each student will memorize 72 selected verses from Scripture plus read and complete a Devotional Workbook on the entire Bible.
Each of the above requirements are an integral part of the program of study, therefore a prerequisite for graduation. Graduates of the School of Ministry will have successfully completed 360 hours of combined classroom and applied skills training, plus over 500 hours in devotional study of the Bible, certainly an achievement of which any student could rightfully be proud.
OBJECTIVES: "To equip the saints for the work of ministry"
- To assist each believer in discovering, developing, and deploying their spiritual gifts and ministries.
- To supply the Kingdom of God with a dedicated core of well-trained workers.
Philosophy of Teaching
As a rule, instruction at Abundant Life School of Ministry is short on theory, long on practical application. It is not our desire to train pedantic, self-involved theologians, but rather to raise up an army of people-centered workers who will impact the world for Jesus Christ. Each course at the School of Ministry will concentrate on two aspects of instructional need:
1. Content. To be "conversant" in different aspects of Christian service, each student needs to know a number of important facts and/or principal truths relevant to each area of instruction. Inasmuch as ALSM is a concentrated system of study, we will seek to distill the most salient points from the wide body of knowledge available for each area of instruction, thus supplying each student with a "working knowledge" of the various aspects of ministry.
2. Application. ALSM is a bottom-line, where-the-rubber-meets-the-road school of ministry training. We seek to impart a base of relevant knowledge to the student but in such a way as that knowledge will spiritually transform the student into a mature, dedicated worker in the Kingdom of God. All instruction will emphasize a "hands-on", practical application of Biblical truths and principles.
