How do you see Jesus? How do you really see Him? Do you see Him as someone who disapproves of you? If He came right now and stood in front of you, what do you believe you would you see in His countenance? What do you think you would see in His face? Would you see the love of a God that believes in you; the love that died for you; the love that is there with you right now to raise you up to life? Or would you see someone that is looking at you with a stern face, shaking His head and saying, “I’m not pleased with you.”
How you picture Jesus determines how you will begin to live out your Christian walk and life.
If you see Jesus as mean and stern towards you, it will impact your relationship with Him. Maybe you had a parent, a mom or dad that was like that. Maybe other authority figures have been like that in your life. I want you to know that our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ is NOT like that! He loves you with an everlasting love!
If He came today, He would look right at you, and I promise you this, He would smile at you.
Can you see the smile of Jesus on your life?
I know what some of you reading this are thinking, “But Pastor, you don’t know some of the things I’m involved in.” He does. He knows. In fact, He knows everything about you and loves you anyway.
The truth is, the way you picture Him will determine how close you are to Him.
I don’t know about you, but if I think somebody doesn’t like me, when I see them, I see this disapproval on their face towards me. It’s pretty obvious with most.
The other side of that is if somebody is always believing in me; someone is always speaking life over me; it changes things in me. My pastor, Pastor Hood, was like that. Even though he had to get on to me a few times, once he was finished, it was over. From that point forward you saw the approval of a loving Pastor. That’s the picture of Jesus Christ.
How do you see Him today?
Can you see the smile yet? If not, let me ask you, do you see the smile of God or the frown? Our worship pastor once shared that for years he walked under the pressure of always feeling that frown of God. As he learned, and I pray you will too, your life will dramatically change when you begin to see the smile of God. He’s smiling at you right now.
If you will start seeing Him differently and start seeing the love in His eyes, I promise you it’s going to pull you toward Him. In pulling you toward Him your life is going to improve. The closer you get to Jesus, the more He starts rubbing off on you. He starts filling you up and He puts His love in you.
It’s the goodness of the Lord and it’s the love of God that causes us to walk in a repentant attitude. We can’t do it without Him. For me personally, it’s because I love Him so much that I want to walk pleasing in His sight all the time. I hope you do too!
Can you see Him today? He has a smile on His face… and love in His eyes for YOU!
We all need constantly reminded of the truth that He has love in His eyes for us. So many times we see God in a religious concept; we see Him as a God who is never quite satisfied with us. What we don’t realize is that His satisfaction was taken care of at the cross. The shedding of His blood; the death, burial and resurrection; the position He has at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us… through all of that, He makes up the difference for each and every one of us when we fall short.
If you are struggling in this area, lift your hands right now and receive by faith this prayer for you: Father… for everyone who is struggling with the image they’ve had of You; the guilt, the condemnation, the shame… for those who hide out from You and peek in once a week just to make sure You know they still want to go to Heaven… for all those who don’t have that living, vibrant relationship with You… Father, I break that spirit in their lives right now. Lord, I pray that they would picture You as You truly are… as a God Who has love in Your eyes as You look at them.
Here’s your part… PROCLAIM this by faith right now: Lord, I receive it! I receive the love of God. I receive the smile of Heaven. Lord, I pray that this image of a smiling Jesus; this image of a God that loves me begins to cause me to go to new levels in the glory and power of God. Thank You Lord… You raise the broken to life and I receive life today. I see the love in Your eyes and I receive that love! I give You praise, honor and glory, in Jesus Name!
It’s up to you now. Receive the love of God right where you are. Close your eyes and picture Him. Not as you did in the past, but as He truly is. Someone who loves you! All He wants to do is raise you up today. His amazing grace is for YOU!
